If your outboard motor only has a push button start and no key, then you can follow these steps to clear the safe mode:Make sure the motor is in neutral. Jun 20, 2016 · In a 2007 Z200 HPDI the only things that will put the motor RPM reduction mode are (1) over temperature of that motor, (2) low oil quantity in the engine mounted tank of that motor and (3) a sister motor, if installed, going into RPM reduction mode. Bypass is different then safe mode - safe mode is oil or high temp which it is not, I have traced that until blue in the face. I have a 1987 yamaha 90hp outboard jet motor that is going into limp mode after about 1-2 minutes of operation. Shock treated enging, cleaned carbs, installed fuel water seperator. The sticker for the engine number is missing but I believe the motors a 2003 VETO. This leaves the CDI module or the pulser coil is failing and most likely the CDI module is the problem. The same ground that turns on the over temperature light tells the CDI assembly that the motor is too hot. Aug 28, 2006 · When your Yamaha is in "safe mode", aka rpm reduction, the alarm sounds continuously - is your alarm going off all the time?
