Restore speed was ~15MB/s on same gigabit connection. So we see that during backup when veeam was reading and writing from and to the same disk, performance was very good. Given the great track record with Veeam I went all-in and upgraded directly to Version 11. now the restore or replication use this option (you can see it by restore live-log, [hot add] and not nbd) . I suggest using hot add transport instead (requires backup proxy in a VM) for full VM restores. I wound up do a full restore and booting the temp server and just copying files.
